The Sharpsburg Community Garden, located behind the Cooper-Siegel Community Library in Sharpsburg, has been a part of the local community for many years. It has grown into a vibrant, fruit-full, and popular garden since it’s renewal in 2014 after the library was renovated. The garden has 25 raised beds and is open to all Fox Chapel Area School District residents for a nominal rental fee of $25 a year. Gardeners plant an impressive variety of vegetables, flowers, herbs; we even saw a beautiful cotton plant. The gardeners work with Grow Pittsburgh to help supply the beds and soil for the garden. Volunteers share their produce with the community through the library, Second Harvest, and distribution to the local senior citizen hi-rise. A small group of dedicated volunteers help to organize and supervise the garden volunteers. They do a seed give away in March and May, hold a fundraiser in August, and a volunteer social in October after the garden cleanup.
In 2024-25 our Fox Chapel Garden Club was honored to fund the replacement of four raised beds in this garden.
